Bridgeport Hospital’s New Entrance

November 7, 2013 – Bridgeport, CT – Bridgeport Hospital retained Antinozzi Associates to design their new main entrance, calling for $4.45M to completely renovate the area . The hospital entrance had to be designed to withstand the constant foot and vehicle traffic and provide easy access from the parking garage, as it is one of the busiest hospitals in the State.  The hospital envisioned not only an easy accessible entrance to the main building, but embody the features of a public park.  Features include fresh greenery, a centerpiece fountain, wide sidewalks and sheltered walkways that offer a place for the staff and entire community to enjoy.

On September 11th, Mayor Bill Finch, City Council members, Bridgeport Hospital leadership and staff, and the design team from Antinozzi Associates attended the grand opening of the new entrance. Many expressed the vast improvement of the entrance, not only in it’s appearance but in it’s safety for the community. Before, the entrance was on a busy street, making it difficult to get to the entrance safely.

Bridgeport Hospital is a member of the Yale-New Haven Healthcare system, and one of the largest hospitals in the State. They are a non-profit organization serving Fairfield and New Haven counties. Of the  many services they offer, they have a Burn center for burned victims, the only one in Connecticut.
